Vijay is a nice Guy–says Ileana D'cruz

Ileana is much excited about Nanban with Vijay, directed by Shankar. She bubbles over with enthusiasm while discussing the project. Apparently it is not a scene – by – scene lift from the original Three Idiots but a remake that takes into account Tamil sensibilities. Her character has also been tweaked a little and she credits Shankar for developing the character as well as her look in the film.

About working with Vijay she says she was a little nervous but everyone made her feel comfortable and helped her out with the language barrier. Vijay is a very composed person she says and is very friendly. He shares a great rapport with Jiva, and Srikanth and the three enliven the sets considerably. “As for me, I am the fourth idiot on the set”, she adds with a laugh.

“Had my first scene with Vijay. And he’s really not what I expected! A real nice guy with a quiet sense of humour. A pleasure to work with,” tweeted the pretty actress, expressing her happiness.

‘Nanban’, directed by Shankar, is a remake of the Hindi film hit ‘Three Idiots’. 'Nanban' Vijay, Srikanth and Jeeva in lead roles.

Grand climax of Velayudham shot in Chennai!

Ilayathalapathy Vijay is quite upbeat about the box-office prospects of his upcoming film titled ‘Velayudham’. Produced by Ravichandran’s Ascar Films, the film brings together for the first time Vijay and director ‘Jayam’ Raja, who had till now been directing only his home productions starring his younger sibling and actor ‘Jayam’ Ravi. Almost all those films were box-office hits, though.
Raja assured before the start of the shooting of the film that the script would perfectly suit Vijay’s image. The film has Genelia and Hansika Motwani as the two heroines opposite Vijay. The climax sequence is presently being shot in and around the Chennai airport in a grand manner with 5,000 artistes and 1,000 vans participating.

The film’s crew informs us on condition of anonymity that the ‘mighty’ climax sequence would be one of the highlights of the film. Interestingly, the ‘first part’ of the climax was already shot in the port city of Cochin in the neighbouring Kerala and the portions which are being shot near SIPCOT in Chennai are the second part of the gripping climax, it is learnt.

The present schedule is expected to last for a fortnight after which only one song remains to be shot, Unit sources say. As such, contrary to earlier plans, the film may not be releasing on the actor’s birthday which falls on 22nd June. Vijay plays a milk vendor in the film while Genelia plays a journalist.

Hansika Motwani ranks Velayutham as her No 1

Latest Kollywood sensation Hansika Motwani has said that 'Velayudham' is the best film so far in her Kollywood career. Hansika Motwani was first seen in Dhanus's 'Mapillai' and later in the recent release 'Engeyum Kadhal' directed by Prabhu Deva.

Both the movies have bombed at the box-office but since the movies were hyped so much by the distributors Sun Pictures, Hansika Motwani managed to gain popularity among Kollywood circles and fans. Despite of her shaky start in Kollywood, the actress is optimistic with her third movie 'Velayutham' which is said to be released on Vijay's birthday.

Since Vijay has a huge fan base in Tamil Nadu, the actress is confident enough the it would fetch more attention upon her. 'Velayudham' is in the completion stages and happens to be director Raja's first attempt with his own script. 'Velayudham' is a super-hero subject which has Vijay, Genelia, Hansika Motwani and Saranya Mohan in pivotal roles.

SAC Elected as President of Producer's Council

The change of government in Tamil Nadu is changing equations in Tamil cinema. A day after Rama Narayanan resigned from the post of Tamil Film Producers Council president, S A Chandrasekar was on Saturday night elected as the new chief of the all powerful body of Kollywood.

According to a press release from the Producers Council, a decision in this regard was taken by the members after an emergency meeting. The new president was later greeted by other office-bearers of the associaton.

On Friday, after trends clearly indicated that AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa is all set to take over the mantle of Tamil Nadu, S A Chandrasekar and his son Vijay called on her and conveyed their wishes.

During the April 13 Assembly elections, Vijay’s Makkal Iyakkam worked for the success of the AIADMK alliance and Chandrasekar campaigned for the front. He also met Jayalalithaa in person and offered support.

Vijay is happy with Amma's victory!

Ilayathalapathy Vijay finally has a smile on his face. And why not? He'd gotten his huge fan base to root for J Jayalalithaa and her party during the recent elections. During the previous regime, he resented the family's octopus-like hold on the film industry. 

On hearing about Amma's landslide victory in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, Vijay — who was shooting for his Raja-directed Velayudham — rushed to her Poes Garden residence. After meeting and congratulating Jayalalithaa, the actor took some time off to chat with the Media.

Starts off the actor, "I'm extremely happy that Amma had a landslide victory. She proved the pollsters wrong and decimated the erstwhile ruling party. It is a historic win and also proves that our electorate is intelligent and knows what's best for them. Everybody from towns to villages wanted a change for the better."

Vijay says he is happy that in his own way, he lent support to Amma. Says the star, "I want to thank my fans who form the Makkal Iyakkam. They supported my endeavours and had total faith in my decision to support Jayalalithaa. They worked very hard at the grass-root level to achieve our goal."

For Vijay, Friday the 13th has indeed turned out to be a lucky day. He premiered the first look promo of his next film, Velayudham, on television. The promos were telecast at the same time when Jayalalithaa's party was heading for a landslide win in TN and that ensured maximum eyeballs for the trailer cut. It was a marketing coup of sorts as the promo soon became the most-watched film trailer on the Internet.

In the recent past, Ilayathalapathy has faced problems with the promotions for his films. In fact, his last release, Kaavalan, was devoid of publicity before and after its release as all the leading channels were controlled by the family in power.

Ask him if he's happy now that his next film's promo has got a huge reach and he says, "I had a tough time releasing my last film Kaavalan. But I have forgotten all that like a bad dream. "Kavalan" Invited to Shangai International Film Fest..!

It is good news for the ‘Kavalan’ team! The film which definitely marked a turning point in ‘Ilaya Thalapathi’s career, continues to make news even now many days after its release. Well this time around good news comes from the most famous city of China, Shanghai.


Director Siddique’s film ‘Kavalan’ has been selected to be screened in Shanghai during the International Film Festival which will be held in the city from June 11th to June 19th. Though the film faced hiccups even before it released from theatre owners across the state that changed post its release and went on to become one of the best grosser for Vijay also winning the hero more popularity.


‘Kavalan’ which had Vijay and Asin in the lead was this year’s Pongal release. The film was selected to be screened in the International Film Fest to be held at Shanghai by a board comprising of famous directors which also includes Oscar winner Barry Levinson. ‘Kavalan’ has been selected to be screened in the ‘Panorama’ category. More than 80 countries around the globe will be culminating for this event with more than 2500 films being screened during the event.


Yet another happy tiding for Vijay fans is that their idol has been invited as a special guest for taking part in this event! We will get back to you with details as to when “Ilaya Thalapathi” will leave to Shanghai for taking part in the event.

Scintillating songs in "Velayutham"..!

We have interesting details about two ‘scintillating songs’ in ‘Velayudham’, Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay’s forthcoming film, directed by ‘Jayam’ Raja and produced by Aascar Films V Ravichandran.

“A song whose starting lines are Sonna puriadhu….sollukkul adangadhu… was shot recently on a grand set. It will be the introduction song of Vijay in Velayudham,” sources in the unit tell us.

“While the lyrics speak about the bond the Ilaya Thalapathi shares with his fans, Vijay Antony’s music has provided the much-needed pep a Vijay intro songs needs. It will be a colourful song,” they say.

“The other number that was recently picturised was a duet,” they say and add: “the song Mayakkiputta ennai mayakkiputta shot on Vijay and Hansika Motwani will be remembered for a long time by (music) lovers.”

Here are more interesting and never-revealed-before facts coming your way from ‘Velayudham’ . Vijay is helming the project with Genelia and Hansika Motwani as his heroines. Like all his other films this film too introduces the hero with a song.

The song, sources from the team reveal that the song has been made at a whooping budget of 2 crores. The song has been filmed from Thirumoorthi Hills. Dance choreographer Ashokraj, who choreographed intro songs for Vijay in ‘Sivakasi’ and ‘Pokkiri,’ has choreographed this song too. The song spans the typical art forms of villages in Tamil Nadu like Mayilattam, Uyilattam, Kollattam and the likes with more than 200 performances performing unanimously.

The intro song also features around 150 international dancers performing international art forms. There are also models from Mumbai shaking a leg and Russian artists performing for this song. Vijay Antony is the music director of this film, and he has hit five tracks for this film’s album. A couple of songs have been filmed abroad. There are reports that ‘Velayudham’s music might hit stands on May 14th.

Almost eighty percent of the filming is complete with one song and the climax scene yet to be shot, say sources close to the director. The film also has around six stunt scenes were sparks are sure to fly. In all, ‘Velayudham’ seems like one masala film with all the right ingredients in the right proportion for a huge hit.

Nanban Release Date - Diwali 2011?

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s much expected film Nanban shooting has been going fast. Director Shankar recently has completed the second schedule of the movie in Dehradun.

Directed by Shankar Nanban features Vijay, Ileana, Jiiva, Srikanth, Sathyaraj, Sathyan and SJ Surayah. As per sources nearly 40 percent of the movie is over. Music director Harris Jayaraj has already completed three out of the six songs in the album.

As per sources in another 4 months the entire shoot of the film will be over and its post production work may start. Nanban produced by Gemini Film Circuit is expected to be a Big 2011 Diwali release.

So this Diwali all Vijay fans get ready for fireworks on screen!

Velayutham Release on Thalapathy's Birthday..!

Vijay’s much awaited film of the year after Kavalan is Velayudham. The film is presently on the heels of completion and director Jayam Raja is making all necessary aspects to go as per the schedule. The team will be heading with the post production works as soon as the shoot gets a pack up announcement.

The shoot is presently taking place in Chennai and its surrounding areas later which the team will board their flight to abroad for canning a song. The climax is going to be highlight of the film as the action sequences were choreographed by a Hollywood stunt master. Director Jayam Raja has not comprised in any aspect for bringing the quality output and he received great support from Vijay and other casts members too. Many confess that the film is the remake of Telugu film Azad but director totally trashes them.

Genelia D'Souza and Hansika Motwani play the female leads opposite Vijay. So far we have Genelia in a next door girl look and also as a happy go lucky girl but in Velayudham she is playing the role of a daring and dashing journalist. Hansika will also been quite opposite look of a village girl. Santhanam is going to add the comedy element.

Vijay Anthony is scoring the music and it heard that he has come up with peppy numbers.

Kavalan Successful 100 Days..!

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Pongal release Kaavalan has completed 100 days of theatrical run. The film got release on 15, January, 2011 and has successfully completed the century run even by facing tough competition.

Kaavalan is directed by Siddique and produced by Ramesh Babu under Ekaveera Creations Banner. Asin played Vijay's ladylove in the film. Vijay is back with his ever cool boy image after a long time and this made the family audiences to rush to theaters. Vijay has seen slew of failures before Kaavalan, thanks to the director for getting back Vijay on track with Kaavalan. The film was released in India with nearly 350 prints on January 15th and has set the box office on fire by making record collections in Chennai.

Kaavalan Box office collection reports have proved Vijay’s mass image and as per trade buffs Kaavalan has taken a mega opening. The film’s budget is Rs 18 crore and has made gross revenue of Rs 35 crore.

Kaavalan is the remake of Malayalam hit Bodyguard, was directed by Siddique.

Jayalalitha is invited for Velayutham Audio Release..!

As reported earlier Vijay’s upcoming movie Velayudam is almost over and audio launch is expected to take place soon. In the meanwhile there are reports from Kollywood, saying that the AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalitha has agreed to grace the audio launch function of Velayutham. Known to all that Vijay’s father, director SA Chandrasekar had supported the AIADMK during the current Tamil Nadu State Assembly elections and had campaigned for the party too.

Earlier though there were rumors that Jayalalitha would attend the audio launch of Sattapadi Kuttram, that did not happen. Because she was busy with the election campaign. Now the elections are over and hence it is expected that Jayalalitha would definitely participate in the audio launch of Velayutham. If sources are to be trusted, its also believed that the movie producer Aascar Ravichandran has already started making all the required arrangements for a grand event at the Nehru Indoor Stadium.  Lets wait and watch for updates...

Reportedly Ilayathalapathy Vijay has completed the shoot of his upcoming film Velayutham, directed by Jayam Raja. Bubbly Genelia and Hansika are the Heroines. Vijay is currently busy with Shankar's Nanban, after which he is expected to team up with Seeman for Pagalavan.
There is a widespread speculation that Velayutham is the remake of Nagarjuna's Telugu film Azad. Sony music has bagged the music rights of Velayutham, composed by Vijay Anthony, for a whopping price..

Velayudham has a surprise for the fans!

Vijay’s Velayudham directed by ‘Jeyam’ Raja is racing towards the finish line. Fans expect the movies of Ilaya Thalapathi to have superb action and songs with their idol doing some fabulous dance moves and Vijay wants to make sure that his fans are not disappointed. He and the director have gone the extra mile to ensure that the fans get what they want and also surprise them by taking the action and dance numbers to the next level.

The climax scenes have been shot under the supervision of a stunt choreographer from Hollywood, Tom Delmar and the makers are confident that it will be breathtaking. The action is simply superb and the finale is going to be well received by the audience.
